Q: How does your service work?

RenovationFind.com is a free online directory of certified trades, contractors, and home improvement companies. All companies listed on our website www.renovationfind.com have gone through a stringent pre-screening process. Using a third-party organization, we run extensive background checks on seven of the most important criteria so we can provide homeowners with legitimate, reputable, and trustworthy companies. The criteria include legal background checks, credit background checks, monitoring for customer complaints, checking for proof of a valid business license and insurance, as well as WCB coverage. Companies who are a member of the Better Business Bureau will receive a higher ranking on the directory. We continue to monitor the companies based on these criteria to ensure they’re keeping up to standard.

RenovationFind helps protect homeowners by offering them a directory of ethical, trustworthy home renovation, and home improvement companies. We also are focused on promoting good companies, on helping build a positive reputation for the renovation industry. It’s a win-win for both the consumer and the businesses involved.

Q: What can we look forward to from you at the BC Home and Garden Show?

At the Home and Garden show, we will have a booth where people can come and learn more about RenovationFind. It will allow for homeowners to receive credible information and get three quotes from companies certified by RenovationFind. For example, if they are looking to have their bathroom remodeled, we can give them the information they need and a quote for the project. As well, there will be a giveaway for becoming a RenovationFind member. Not only will they receive exclusive pricing or any promotions from recommended, certified businesses, but they will can enter to win $1000 and an iPad at the booth.

Q: What advice do you have for homeowners?

The most important part of any project is to do thorough research. Having a plan written down with guidelines and the proper permits will make sure the project goes smoothly. It’s also important to do background checks on any company before you hire them. Check their credentials and previous work to make sure they have a good reputation. Asking for documentation is within your rights before any work is done on your house. A tip when asking for references is to ask for a reference on the previous three jobs the company has done. This way, you will get a more honest picture of the company because they won’t simply give you the jobs they know will give the best reference. Ask that previous customer how the project went, if the documentation was valid, and any other questions you may have before making your decision about working with the company.

Q: What inspires your services?

The horror stories. You hear of so many homeowners working with unreliable companies who will take money without completing work, or take advantage of their lack of knowledge. Providing a service like this ensures that homeowners know they will get quality service from the company they choose, and won’t regret their decision. The companies on the site are trustworthy and reputable, and that’s what matters when hiring someone to work in your home.

Q: What is your favourite part of the BC Home and Garden Show?

Connecting with other homeowners and giving them a resource for hiring contractors and home improvement companies. If we are connecting homeowners to the people who can get the job done right, both parties win. Doing the booth at the home show allows us to help make these connections.

Q: What design or decor trends did you love in 2019 or anticipate for 2020?

People are renovating instead of moving. Many homeowners don’t want to leave, because perhaps they have found their forever home, or have fallen in love with the neighborhood and their community. Instead they’re choosing to renovatet he home they’re in. Because we’re in the home renovation industry, this is something we hope to continue to see.

Q: Are there any success stories you'd like to share?

Based on homeowner feedback, we have found that many homeowners are finding success through using the site. The pre-screening process, combined with the continuous monitoring, has taken a lot of stress out of the renovation process for our users. We are also able to advertise our companies to their target demographics, and attract new customers to their RenovationFind profiles and websites. Because of this, the good companies on our directory are getting more leads.

Q: What can folks expect when they work with you?

For the homeowner, people who use RenovationFind can expect quality workmanship and service from the company they choose to hire. For those who choose to sign up for a RenovationFind membership, they’ll get exclusive prices and promotions for companies in their area. Homeowners will find contractors over a wide range of categories, including general contractors, siding contracts, kitchen contractors, Vancouver countertops, painters, electrical companies in Vancouver, HVAC companies, Vancouver window companies and more.

In regards to the companies on the directory, we try to improve traffic to their RenovationFind profiles and their websites using specific targeting in their city. We do this through membership email blasts, blog posts, social media marketing, and search engine targeting. We love to see our companies get more leads and business through our marketing efforts.
